Nutritional counseling is instrumental in keeping your aging family member as healthy as possible, but it might not occur to either of you to give it a try. Having access to nutrition consultations at home makes it easy and fast for your elderly family member to get the answers that she needs in order to make healthier choices around foods. Having occupational therapy at home services can work with the nutritional consultant to follow their recommendations.
She’s Had More Digestive Trouble than Usual
Your elderly family member could experience digestive issues for a variety of different reasons. Once she’s ruled out health causes, the next culprit could be what she’s eating and when. Nutrition consultations at home give your senior a chance to deep dive into the foods she’s eating and work out what might be affecting her digestion.
Her Health Has Changed
If your senior’s health has changed, whether that means she’s developed a new health concern or an existing one is worsening, it’s possible that her nutritional needs are also changing. Sometimes medication changes also necessitate changes to your elderly family member’s eating habits. With the right expert help, your elderly family member is better able to make those changes.
She’s Experiencing Signs of Food Allergies
Food allergies might be the last thing on your senior’s radar, especially if she’s never experienced them in the past. But it’s really not uncommon at all for aging adults to suddenly start experiencing symptoms of food allergies. Figuring out what your elderly family member is allergic to eating is a lot easier with the help of nutrition consultations at home.
Her Weight Is Changing Unexpectedly
Unexpected weight changes are a big deal for aging adults, regardless of which way the scale is tipping. Your elderly family member may not realize how important it is to get to the bottom of what’s happening. If she hasn’t made any changes to her activity levels and she isn’t dealing with new health issues, there’s more going on. Working with a nutritionist can help your senior to get to the bottom of what is contributing to her weight changes. Having a plan can help her to stabilize her weight.
She Knows She Wants to Feel Healthier
If your elderly family member just feels off, with moods all over the place, low energy levels, and poor sleep, finding out what’s going on with her diet can make all the difference. Nutrition counseling at home can give her the edge that she needs to start feeling her best. That is incredibly important at this stage of your senior’s life, when she may have all the time she needs to do the things she wants, but lacks the energy to follow through.
The smallest changes to how and what your elderly family member eats on a regular basis can make a tremendous difference in how she feels and her overall quality of life. Working with a nutritionist is a simple way to solve those mysteries quickly. And your elderly family member may just find that the improvements she experiences in her overall well-being are worth the changes she makes to what she’s eating.

Beth’s inspired her to always desire great care for seniors and has been working and advocating for seniors since 1988. She earned a degree in Special Education from the Pennsylvania State University and a juris doctorate from Hofstra University. Beth became an elder care attorney to advocate for both the elderly and people living with handicaps before started a home care agency in 2003.
Her passion has always been to ensure that her clients receive better care than her grandparents had, and she works tirelessly to make sure that happens. Her motto and belief has always been and will always be that she (and her staff) will care for your family as we would our own!
For years, Beth has “thought outside the box” and imagined a company that could supplement the in-home care that many seniors need. In-home care provides assistance with the activities of daily living, but many seniors are homebound for a variety of reasons: their physical condition, not being able to drive, mobility concerns, or because they believe that being at home (especially during the COVID-19 pandemic) was the safest place to be.
During the pandemic, Beth made the decision to launch Max Health and Wellness. She envisioned the need to provide additional in-home services to those who need them, specifically therapeutic solutions to create wellness and self-care experiences for seniors and others. These services will range from clinical therapy services such as physical, occupational and speech therapy, mental health counselling, non-medical massage therapy and reflexology, nutritional counseling, and at-home salon/spa services such as therapeutic facial and hair styling.
Beth’s goal is that all of the health and wellness services offered by Max Health and Wellness will MAXIMIZE the quality of life and well-being of seniors throughout the state of New Jersey. She looks forward to having you experience our concierge therapeutic services and treatments.
